“When I first started using the Stunner, I simply went into the maneuver without a set up. It was simply delivered with no anticipation. And I’m a little fuzzy on this, but I’m almost positive that Michael [Hayes] and I were talking about the move happening too fast, and that the crowd could not anticipate the action because it happened out of the blue. I needed some type of setup maneuver ala Jake ‘The Snake’ Robert’s signature short arm clothesline that he delivered before unleashing one of the most devastating finishers of all time - The DDT. An easy, and quick solution to this was the kick to the gut, which perfectly set the victim into an effective ‘ready position’. Not only was the kick effective as a weapon to neutralize my opponent, it was also a visual ‘signal’ to the crowd that the Stunner was next. Or was it? Any kind of curveball could be worked into the equation at that point, but from a storytelling standpoint, the Stunner was ‘supposed’ to happen next.”

“I will give you a show like you have never, ever seen before. Why? Because I can. This is how we started and this is how we’re gonna end. Ladies and gentlemen, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels, has left the building.”

Eddie Guerrero - 2002Interviewer: “At what point in your career did you say, ‘Wow, I made it, I’m in the business, I am where I want to be’. Or did you reach that level yet?”Eddie Guerrero: “I never reached — it’s not where I want to be. I always wanna, want to try to achieve the most I can. Y’know? I want to be a main eventer one of these days on a Pay Per View. That’s, that’s my goal. Y’know, whether it’ll happen or not, I don’t know, all I can do is just keep trying. Y’know, uh, I know I’m successful because I know I’m happy with what I can do in the ring. That is success to me. Having the boys, uh, having, I guess, respect of some of the boys. I don’t know if they all respect me, but being treated right by the boys in the dressing room, that’s success. Success to me now is more than money, and is more than fame, and being on TV, y’know? Success for me is different now. And like I said, it’s taken a lot of bad shit to happen to me for me to realize this, but success for me right now, and probably from now until the day I die, I’ll always measure, y’know, my performance in the ring, how I can please the true wrestling fans, and the new wrestling fans, and, um, y’know, respect of my comments on what I do, as far as business wise. Real success comes in personal life, which is my biggest battle right now.”
